Charles "Chuck" LaForge '50 wrote with news that he has sold the Beekman Arms Hotel in Rhinebeck, after 44 years and has retired to Florida. H. Neal Schaefer '52 and his wife Mim have retired after 47 years as owners-operators of a small property, Holiday Harbor Beach Motel, located near Ormond Beach, Florida. Robert V. Kramer '53 is still active and still working at the age of 69. After graduating from Paul Smith's College, Bob went on to the National Hardwood Association School and then graded hardwood lumber in the U.S. and South America for ten years. He went on to sales with Weyerhauser Canada in 1964, and is now executive director with Besse Forest Products, exporting to Asia, and has been traveling there for the past 30 years. Edward A. Padgett '54 and his wife Triss retired this past June from the St. John's County School System after 11 and 25 years, respectively. This was Edward's second retirement, his first being in 1990 from the Stroh's Brewery Company after 28 years, as an area manager. C. Paul Glenn '57 is wondering what ever happened to Homer Tyler and Geraldine Drew of the kitchen staff '56 - '57, where Paul worked. He remembers them as great people to work for. James R. Apffel '62 retired after 36 years as a New Jersey State Park service superintendent. William J. Taxter '62 retired from the Army National Guard (CW5) after 34 years of service. He is a self-employed mason contractor and is building a new home in Lyman, N.H. Captain Louis C. Curth '63 writes that he is approaching the end of a 39-year career with the NYS DEC Forest Rangers. Peter O. Lane '63 is a secondary school teacher. He teaches woodworking and runs the school's work program. Harold Callaghan '65 is a self-employed building contractor who builds Adirondack style custom homes, and has built or refurbished more than a dozen log homes. Leonard Gleckel '66 notes that seven years ago he and his family gave up on corporate America and started their own business of manufacturing and selling awards for recognition. Craig E. Johnson '66 retired from school counseling in Washington State after 30 years of counseling and coaching basketball and football. He is currently working, after his retirement, for the Department of Defense in Kitzinger, Germany, serving as an elementary school counselor. Robert J. Casper '67 writes that even though he has never spoken it, he has been teaching Spanish in his school. Last year he earned National Certification in English. Richard L. Folk '67 sent news that logging sports at the University of Idaho continue as a strong program, but he hasn't seen a PSC transfer for several years. One of the last students was Gary Lester '89, who has graduated and operates an environmental consulting business known as EcoAnalysts, Inc. George W. McBride '67 is starting up new paper machine at Fiber Marks' New Jersey Technical Specialties Warren Glen paper mill. George was recently promoted to director of strategic manufacturing for Fiber Mark. Congratulations, George!

Lloyd E. Peterson '68 is the chief of reservoir system analysis for the Mid-Pacific Region branch of the Bureau of Reclamation. John (Jack) Connelly '72 spent the last two weeks of August in China, where he is the US representative of the Grouse Specialists Group, and participated in the 9th International Grouse Symposium. Jay Lackey '73 stopped by campus and the Alumni Office in September for the first time since 1973! He's worked for nearly 30 years with the Vermont State Forestry Department in fire control and forest health management. His campus visit sent him down memory lane as he recounted his time living on Keese's Mills Road, renting from Homer who ran the cafeteria, doing lots of studying and getting the 2 B's he earned while he was here —one in gym, and one from Gould Hoyt in silviculture. Jay was here when the white pine was brought down and remembers being called to Buxton Gym afterward for a lecture from Dean Rutherford.

Armand S. Amendola '74 sends news that he's been happily married for more than 25 years to his PSC roommate's sister! Tim Cowles '77 and his wife, Kim, opened their second sporting goods store, The Littleton Athletic Department, in Tim's hometown of Littleton, N.H. Robert O. LaRiviere '78 sends news that surveying is very good in the west, where he is part owner of a firm with 40 employees. He and his wife Terry celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary, and though they like Lake Tahoe with its great skiing and boating, they miss the Adirondacks. Sheila K. (Sibley) '81 and Ian M. Warden '80 are happily living in Gouverneur ( 2 hours from PSC!) on an old 95-acre dairy farm which they are slowly renovating. They have done most of the rebuilding on the farmhouse and are starting on a 40' x 36' pole barn — but will not do dairy! Ian has started an experimental plot of hybrid poplar. Charles K. Goodling '81, P.E., has been named regional environmental service group manager of the Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania office of Herbert, Rowland, & Grubic, Inc., a multi-disciplined service company operating in the areas of engineering, landscape architecture, financial consulting, and surveying. Charles and his family will be leaving Randolph, Vt. where he's worked as a water resources division manager for a consulting engineering firm. Congratulations, Charles, and good luck!

Bonnie Borowiec '86 notes that she is in her second year with the Solvay School District (near Syracuse), teaching 10th grade regents biology and 8th grade physical science. It's a lot of work but she loves it and is glad to have made the career switch. One of her students even plans to attend PSC in 2005, making her feel old! Martin Gmelin '86 is now working for the USDA Forest Service, Northern Region as an image analyst on a vegetation mapping project, mapping northern Idaho and western Montana. He uses satellite images for the base vegetation pattern delineation (regions) while using aerial photo interpretation to populate the regions with vegetation properties. Reach Marty at P.O. Rod Moraga '86 left the City of Boulder Fire Department, where he had been the prescribed fire manager for many years, to work full time in his private consulting firm, Anchor Point Group, a fire management company based in the Rocky Mountains. The company specializes in prescribed fire implementation, wildland fire training and hazard risk assessments.

Jill S. Stabile '86 writes that she has been working in country clubs since '87, and was hired in June 2000 by Suburban Golf Club of Union, New Jersey as their first female manager since the club was founded in 1896. In February '02 she received her CCM designation (certified club manager) by Club Manager Association of America. Jill has had time to vacation, though, and met up with Steve Sarajian PPH '85 and Trish O'Donnell TT '86 last October and February, in Islamorada and South Beach, Fla. Timothy R. Sullivan '88 has been appointed as wholesale account executive for National City Home Equity and will oversee wholesale origination of home equity loans and lines of credit from mortgage brokers in northern and central New Jersey. Congratulations, Tim!

Michael Bouffard '89 writes that Creighton and Diane Fee made a special trip to Kittery Point, Maine this past summer and spent the weekend with Mike and his wife. Michael said that Creighton sure does like his lobster. While Creighton was visiting he had a chance to visit some other PSC Grads, Andy Dufore '96 and Rob Ayotte '72 (both PSC surveying grads hired by Michael). Michael also wrote of reconnecting with an old friend Paul "Lenny" Baron '88 and spending an hour on the phone laughing with him over times spent at PSC. Buffy Ann (Ball) Gabri '89 is in her 12th year of coaching very successful teams of soccer, basketball and softball at Madrid-Waddington Central School in N.Y., and her 6th year as a resource room teacher and has recently moved into a new classroom. She still grows and sells veggies, herbs and canned goods and has two children, Meghan (9) and Seth (4 ½), who are an inspiration to her, with such free spirits and love of the outdoors. Mark Moeske '89, an Urban Tree Management graduate, won the New York State 2002 Tree Climbing Championship held in Brooklyn on June 15. Top climbers from around the state showed their skill at speed climbing, throw line events, aerial rescue and work climbing. His first place finish in the master's challenge qualified Mark to compete in the International Tree Climbing Championship that was held in Seattle in July. Mark is owner of Allmark Tree Service and lives in West Sand Lake, N.Y. Way to go, Mark!

Chris "Moo Moo" Mikolajczyk '90 writes that he recently took his GRE exam and is hoping to complete his Master's with a concentration in groundwater/surface water interaction at either Colorado State University, University of Montana or the University of Idaho. He is still a project scientist with Princeton Hydro, LLC in Ringoes, N.J. Chris was also recently hired to coach ice hockey at Randolph High School in New Jersey. He continues to scout and recruit N.J. hockey for PSC and has sent three players to PSC, including Keith Santos '04. Moo Moo had dinner with Chris Williams '90 to celebrate Chris's recent PhD completion. Over the summer an Adirondack gathering of fellow '90 EETers included David Neils, Chris Ericson, Carrie Mitchell and Ed Higgs (see photo).
